Last updated: [DATE] · Draft for legal review before launch

Before launch
Items in [SQUARE BRACKETS] are placeholders for genuine company details that must be completed and reviewed before memberships are sold.

1. Introduction

These terms apply to the UK Purchase Shield service provided by Market Leading Generation Limited (company number 12056496), registered office 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, England, WC2H 9JQ ("we", "us").

UK Purchase Shield provides information and verification support. It does not guarantee that a company, product, service or transaction is risk-free, and it does not provide regulated financial, investment or legal advice. You remain responsible for your final purchasing decisions.

2. Eligibility

You must be 18 or over and resident in the UK. A family member may take out a membership for a relative with that person's knowledge and agreement.

3. Membership

Family Shield is our only plan. It includes a dedicated member hotline, telephone support, checks on companies, websites, phone numbers, reputation, offers, quotes and contracts, written email summaries, a printable hotline card, a member account and one UK Purchase Shield fridge safety magnet.

4. Subscription, payment and recurring billing

Family Shield costs £179 per year including VAT [CONFIRM VAT STATUS], paid upfront for a 12-month membership period by [PAYMENT PROVIDER]. Your membership renews automatically every 12 months unless you cancel before the renewal date. We will remind you before each renewal and give at least 30 days' notice of any price change.

5. Cancellation

You can cancel your future renewal at any time before the next annual billing date. Your membership continues until the end of the paid 12-month period. Please see our Cancellation & Refund Policy for full details, including cooling-off rights.

6. Service availability

The hotline is available during [OPENING HOURS]. We aim to keep the service available but cannot guarantee it will be uninterrupted.

7. Purchase Shield checks

We review publicly available and other reasonably accessible information, such as Companies House records, websites, reviews, official registers and the documents you share, and give you our opinion of the warning signs found.

8. Information you must provide

Our checks rely on the information you give us. Please provide accurate details of the company, contact details and offer. Never share card numbers, PINs or passwords.

9. Limitations of checks

No check can guarantee that a company, product or transaction is completely safe. Information may be incomplete, out of date or deliberately misleading. A "Low Risk" outcome means we did not identify major warning signs — not that there is no risk.

10. Telephone support and written summaries

We explain our findings on the phone and send a written email summary afterwards. Summaries reflect the information available at the time of the check.

11. Prohibited use

You must not use the service unlawfully, to harass any person or business, to resell checks, or to submit false information.

12. Intellectual property

The UK Purchase Shield name, logo, website content and summaries belong to us. You may use summaries for your own personal and family purposes.

13. Liability

We will use reasonable care and skill. We are not liable for losses arising from your purchasing decisions, from third-party information, or that were not reasonably foreseeable. Our total liability is limited to [AMOUNT / FEES PAID IN THE PREVIOUS 12 MONTHS]. Nothing limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your statutory rights as a consumer. [LEGAL REVIEW REQUIRED]

14. Third-party information

We are not responsible for the accuracy of information published by third parties, including companies, review sites and registers.

15. Service changes

We may make reasonable changes to the service or these terms. We will tell you about material changes in advance, and you may cancel if you do not agree.

16. Account termination

We may suspend or end a membership if these terms are seriously broken, after giving notice where reasonable.

17. Complaints

Please see our Complaints Policy or contact [COMPLAINTS EMAIL].

18. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
